Technique + Solea por Bulerias Choreography
Sundays 11:00am-12:00pm at El Barrio’s Artspace
Tuesdays 7:00-8:00pm at Flamenco Vivo
Intermediate/Advanced is designed for students who have studied flamenco consistently for at least three years and are ready to refine their artistry, deepen their technique, and take on more challenging material. Each class is divided into two parts:
– Technique, where we continue to strengthen the foundation through:
Floreo (hand movements)
Braceo (arm movements)
Zapateado/Taconeo (footwork)
Marcajes (marking steps)
Compás y Palmas (rhythm and hand-clapping)
Giros (turns)
Posture and body alignment
– Choreography, where students learn and apply advanced material while continuing to break down the technical elements within the movement.
This class builds from week to week, and students are expected to maintain a regular practice routine outside of class (just 5–15 minutes a day can make a real difference in your growth and confidence). Students in this class will have the opportunity to perform in both our Zambomba holiday showcase in December and our Fiesta Flamenca annual student showcase in June. This semester’s choreography will explore the rich, expressive palo of SOLEÁ POR BULERÍAS, offering students the chance to challenge themselves with a deeply rooted and emotionally powerful style.
