Beginner - Technique & Zambra Choreography

Beginner Level 1 is the perfect class for students who are new to flamenco or those who want to return to the basics with a fresh perspective. No prior dance experience is needed — and even if you have dance training in other styles, we still recommend starting here to establish a solid flamenco foundation.

This class builds progressively each week, allowing students to develop technique, body awareness, and musicality in a supportive and structured environment. Over the course of the semester, we’ll focus on:
– Floreo (hand movements)
– Braceo (arm movements)
– Zapateado/Taconeo (footwork)
– Marcajes (marking steps)
– Compás y Palmas (rhythm and hand-clapping)
– Giros (turns)
– Proper posture and body alignment

All students are expected to practice independently (even just 5–15 minutes a day) to support their progress. This is the class to take if you're ready to build on your training and work toward performance opportunities. Students in this class will have the chance to perform in our Zambomba Holiday showcase in December and our annual Fiesta Flamenca student showcase in June. This semester’s choreography will be set to the vibrant and expressive palo of ZAMBRA!
