Technique & Fandangos with Castanets Choreography
Sundays 12:00-1:00pm at El Barrio’s Artspace
Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm at Flamenco Vivo
Advanced Beginner is the next level up for students who have consistently studied flamenco for at least one to two years and/or have completed my beginner class and are looking to take it to the next level. Please note that this class is at a faster pace and is an added level of difficulty than the Beginner classes. The class is divided between Technique to establish a strong foundation in: floreo (hand movements), braceo (arm movements), zapateado/taconeo (footwork), marcajes (marking steps), compas y palmas (rhythms and hand-clapping), giros (turns) and proper placement of the body AND INCLUDING CASTANETS! This semester’s choreography is FANDANGOS with CASTANETS. Students must purchase castanets in order to participate in this class and are expected to make time to practice on their own in order to progress in their training (which can be as little as 5-15 minutes a day).
